The Sunday Currently (vol. 10)

i like how no face was revealed in this picture as if i cared about their privacy haha
HAPPY FATHER'S DAY! In fairness, Mother's Day was a greater hit in malls, i remember us retreating home after failing to find parking space. But earlier, there wasn't even a waiting line at Chili's. Where have the fathers gone? I wonder where the daddies preferred to spend their special day? :D My dad, for one, just stayed at home! XD

Re-reading
Almost Heaven by Judith McNaught. Haaaay, i'm dead smitten over Ian Thornton even though i know i wouldn't be able to stand a person like him for real. rich, mysterious, handsome men, with towering prides may be swoon worthy in romance novels but will likely get me domestically abused if i ever cross with someone like that in real life. yikes.

Thinking
on how to go about today at work. i'm so up and awake right now after practically sleeping the entire sunday because i was almost awake the entire saturday because i thought i needed to be awake on saturday daytime so i could sleep at night and wake up the next morning.

i did sleep late last saturday, so i thought i could stock up on enough rest to be awake on sunday morning but no. i was so frakkin sleepy i slept the entire morning off, woke for a short lunch and slept again. attended church in the afternoon and roamed the mall, and now i'm home and awake like crazy. T__T it's almost three.

and i have to be up early because we have a lunchout later (with my old team).

also i'm stressing about how to work around my shipments because obviously i can't schedule for a Xend pickup at 3 in the morning and there are no qualified 7-Eleven drop-off points near my place! huhu

anyone knows a courier service that picks up parcels on a nighshift schedule and has pretty packaging? huhu

Smelling
nah.

Wishing
someone would buy my phone (and my other stuff) this week. hehe

Loving
that my most recent client agreed to pay me 100% more for the work i rendered for them. we all agreed it merits some extra charges so i was happy they didn't think twice or negotiated about it! yeyy for extra moolah.

Wanting
a bike! and a tablet! and paypal to lift off their  2.9% + 0.30 USD charge FOR EVERY PAYMENT RECEIVED. it sucks so much. i'm never putting it again as a payment option on ebay. grrr

Needing
to cover up some 10k for not attending World Vision Run. remember i was asleep the whole day, but quite frankly before going to bed last saturday i already decided i can't make it because SLEEP! on the plus side, at least the run is for a cause and my 800 (sans Run Rio's part) is going to World Vision Foundation. :)

Feeling
paranoid about the entire night shift lifestyle. i suddenly want to become super fit and healthy because i'm so sure my health rate is going to drop any time and my weight is going to be skyrocketing (chos. i'm still watching it so hopefully not!)

i was online window shopping at Superfood Grocer and Homegrown Organics listing out the vegetables i want to buy so i could prepare my own power smoothies HAHAHA. good luck! ang gastos magpaka-healthy bakit ganon.

nightshift notes

today marks the first day of an official change in my work lifestyle, i'm working the night shift indefinitely until the end of my bond (January 2017) or until i decide i can't take it anymore haha. chos.

i have a lot of thoughts about this change and i'm gonna go bullet them down here. most of them i thought while desperately tugging out chicken meat from my (super unhealthy) "lunch" a while back. MiniStop's plastic spoon and forks are effing weak.
  • i need to stock up on multivitamins. it's what everybody's telling me. should Enervon C be nice? cos i get easily sick (of life. charot).
  • i only need to work for 8 hours! yeyy
  • it may be hard to file for a vacation leave. because that would mess up my sleeping pattern. what if i want to attend an event which is most probably during the day? that means i would have to make "puyat" for it. what are night VL's for anyway? huhu the thought of this confuses me. but it would likely limit my VL spending so yeyy. haha
  • i need to subscribe to healthy cold pressed juices and smoothies like what Friggies offers (please don't be out of business yet) because it's the only way i could stock up on vegetables. OR i could just do my own vegetable smoothies! gaaaah i'm so excited! checking out The Superfood Grocer!
  • my weekends will be so effed up because i can't keep being a night owl on a saturday or sunday. that would be socially damning.
  • i will see my family less. and my boyfriend too huhu.
  • on the bright side, i'll be coming home to the morning sun and hopefully that'll push me to jog daily! unfortunately i'm afraid it'll wake me too much haha
  • i may need to buy an eye mask because the day isn't exactly conducive for sleeping. i want a cute one! haha
  • i want to compute how much exactly i would earn extra with this "hard shift" but i didn't want to expect so maybe i'll just... still check it out! para ma-inspire kuno HAHA
  • more money = more funds for stuff. yayy. lol
  • my biggest concern is that i might get fatter and unhealthier. huhu.
those are my thoughts! have you worked the night shift? any tips? T____T

What's in my Notebook?

i'm planning on starting a series called WIN. naaaks. it stands for "What's In My Notebook" and as usual, will be an irregular and probably one time thing because wala lang! if you see a vol. 2 then congratulate me for it!

i've been spending a lot of time doodling in my notebook when this week started because there's not much going on at work so far since i'm on the onboarding process still. the coming days will be harder i suppose so i'm glad that for now i don't get to do anything stressful yet hehe!

oh and i'm taking the night shift indefinitely. my project lead pretty much frankly told me there's no hope for a better shift. which is okay. i'm looking on the brighter side though... more earnings! haha

here you go!

La Muerte - from the movie The Book of Life, warden of the Land of the Remembered. i loved the movie majorly because it's soooo colorful and it got me really inspired to start drawing!

and here are random lettering studies. the last one was inspired from @letteristamnl's post here, slight glitch on the 'have' though. it happens to me a lot when i'm lettering a sentence or a phrase that i forget to do a word or two. total bummer. haha

by the way, i'm itching to attend Type Lab MNL but HI FUNDS WHERE ARE YOU?

This 2-day conference is worth 1,600 pesos and i'm considering saving up for it because i could just imagine the amount of inspiration i'll be getting just by being there. haaay i think this was patterned after Graphika Manila (read about my experience here!) but is focused more on Typography which is a really cool thing. i remember dozing off at Graphika during the video animation segment (read: not my thing) haha so i appreciate that Type Lab MNL is condensed to a specific form of art. :D i'm very excited for this (and also very poor).

see you, maybe!

The Sunday Currently (vol. 9)

I don't know about this week but it's pretty lax! nothing serious about work yet, just a couple of tedious project closeout (finally!) documents to do plus i feel like i'm about to move to my new team this week? that means 1) NO MORE DEV for me (but technically there's still coding.. so uhm.), 2) less of my batchmates T__T, and 3) the frkn nightshift (which i'm physically trying to prepare myself for).

wip of my side of a ballpen art collab with jeckie <3

Thinking
of getting some Bible study guides so i could study the Bible once again, for the purpose of understanding His word, and not for the epic history book that it is. this afternoon's message was so powerful. i realized that daily devotions aren't enough, and is actually more selfish (i can't even stick to it, tbh).

studying the word is what i need to do if i really wanted to know Jesus more and be able to defend his word from these extreme liberalists who have made a hobby of making up stuff to fight for just because it's cool and trendy and allows them to (for instance) dress up however they want because eff the rapers! it's annoying and as much as i want to shove some knowledge down their asses, that's not a very Christian thing to do and would hardly enlighten them. plus i'm most probably just as stupid so i'll just frkn study even if i hate studying. am i too late/judgy/hateful/proud for apologetics? wait i need to re-purpose this thing. argh. so much hate.

Smelling
nah.

Wishing
i had some spare 50k so i could buy a decent tablet and a bike!

Wearing

Loving
the possibility of more sweldo because of a looming nigh life (work).

Wanting
more funds to fund our weekly diet thing. hooray for last week cos i was able to prepare for four days! here's what i cooked for me and my sister.

check out my cooking yo!
i wanted to label the food but it don't know how to call them. i don't know what they're called. they're nothing fancy. i even burnt all the kamote. haha but heeeey it's all chicken and fish and no beef and pork! plus, all things fried are cooked with olive oil. black rice is the bitch as it takes some getting used to. haha

sadly, the scale didn't budge to my desired mark but it feels really nice to be able to cook for myself and my sister. it also limited my spending cos i already have enough baon! XD

it's a big big labor of love on my part because i had to wake up at 5am everyday to prepare our foods cos my sister leaves for work at 6:30 (deeeemyu makati).

NEED MORE VEGETABLES

also, did you notice the portions are getting bigger each day?! HAHA di namin kinaya ang ideal 1200 cal portioning! chos. Wednesday White Rice is an accident cos i thought we're already out of black rice. replaced it immediately when i found some rice in the ref! haha

Needing
to frkn start training aready. i have a 10k run this sunday and i haven't conditioned myself yet! anyway, i could probably jog the 5k and walk the other 5k but i'm afraid that'll take me forever so. err. hm. yep.

Feeling
super happy because i won a Xiaomi Redmi 1S from GooglyGooeys and got to meet her too to claim my prize!
with Tippy of GooglyGooeys! :D
my dad is so happy for the advanced father's day gift! haha

ALSO, a picture with my favorite fashion blogger DAVID GUISON! he's super niiiiice! he's one of those celebrities i wouldn't mind running after for a picture because i'm sure he wouldn't turn down a fan! and he didn't! i finally have a picture with him! yeheyy!!!

happy new week ahead goys! :D

[Quick Tour] Quantum Fitness Gym at UP AyalaLand TechnoHub

Quantum Fitness Gym

Quantum Fitness is an Elorde Xtreme Boxing gym located at UP AyalaLand Technohub.

i was pretty excited cos it's located where i work, so my thoughts of finally getting a regular fitness fix could (probably) come true! so one afternoon i paid a visit to see what's in and to generally feel the place and decide whether its worth the membership fee. haha

here's a pic spam of their facilities:

Quantum Fitness Gym

it's big and spacious :) they have warm/cold showers and i noticed a shampoo/bath gel dispenser too. yay. they also have a small cocktail lounge. i'm calling it that cos there are no seats, just two high tables. hehe

Quantum Fitness Gym

locker areas and changing stalls are available too, just bring your own padlocks or you can borrow at the counter.

Quantum Fitness Gym

more comfort room pics cos i'm maarte when it comes to that.

Quantum Fitness Gym

there's the boxing ring of course

Quantum Fitness Gym

and a group exercise studio that caters to different classes like zumba, hiphop, spinning, yogilates, etc. it's pretty small. but it's exciting you know!

Quantum Fitness Gym
more bikes at the back (if you notice hehe)! i think the two in front are for instructors?  XD
there's also a cycling area! there's a group class for that too.

Quantum Fitness Gym

Quantum Fitness Gym

since it's an Elorde gym i supposed it's pretty complete in terms of boxing essentials. that is, the place has no shortage of objects to punch and kick.

Quantum Fitness Gym

Quantum Fitness Gym

the equipment area is filled with lots of items to help you workout as well.

Why I'm not joining (at least, yet)

i found the membership fee expensive. even their pre-selling rate of 15k for 1 year is still a bit too much (btw it ended this May). i have no plans of trying out boxing or muaythai or body building yet so what's left they have to offer me are the group classes and the treadmill. but they only have 2 treadmills so that's a downer. :(

i was excited by their group classes esp the spinning, zumba, and yogilates, but just like any class... it has a schedule. and by the looks of it i may not be able to fully commit myself to any of their time slots. loool kulang sa dedication haha so, not now... but maybe someday! XD i have high hopes that it'll suit me better one day because as i was told, they're gonna eat up their neighboring shop (that's CD-R King) and extend the gym space. that's really exciting. hope they add more treadmills and provide a bigger group exercise studio. haha

And that's it!

if you live or work nearby you can go check the place out to see if it fits your fitness needs! :D

The Sunday Currently (vol. 8)

but before that, let me share the rare experience of seeing an actual end of a rainbow! ooooh this is so for real goys.

homaygaaaas! should i put a watermark?
i don't know much about rainbows except that they're great visual treats and unicorns use it to cross over to our world. i'm also old enough to to have figured out the myth of the pot of gold, but i still dared my officemates to go check it out with me, you know, just in case there's actually a mass of gold where that rainbow seems to be sprouting off. even leprechaun gold will do. anyway, it sounded more like a joke so i never got to check. tsk. sayang. grr.

it's funny though cos even though you see an end to it, you'll never really reach its end because the arc changes relative to your viewing perspective. gosh, i could be nearing a banging epiphany if i dwell further on this rainbow metaphor thing.. but i digress.

here's what's up!

to the fan and a random playlist of an 8-gig-huge music collection i copied earlier from Kids. screening em out at it plays!

Thinking
about what's gonna happen in the next few days or weeks. training has ended, yeyy! i appreciated the hell lot of Performance Testing now, and i feel like i've learned enough to put HP LoadRunner in a list of softwares i have basic knowledge at. LOL. but not quite.

i mentioned that i was being pressed to do good so i could be part of the team our trainer is handling, and last week they told me why. apparently i was already a candidate because i'm available (project just ended), and i wanted to change tracks (dev to QA). but i still need to prove myself to our trainer (a handsome indian mister who's got some enrique iglesias and richard gomez arrive to him) because he holds the final word and he wants to pretty much select the best from his class.

needless to say, i was selected! or at least that's what i understood from what he told me when he talked to me alone. it seemed like a promising deal, being part of his team. but as far as i know he also talked to a bunch of others from my class about who knows what and i'm thinking we're all on the same boat. the slots on his team are limited. i'm not exactly vouching for it. but it's a good experience.

i think it's something i could push forward in my career if given the chance. err. yehey for some direction! haha

Wishing
i had a lot of money to spare for a gym membership and a month of diet food delivery. haha

Loving
my ministry more. it sure gets tiring at times but there's something rewarding about getting to know the kids better and being friends with them. listening to their prayer requests and the things they're thankful for. i feel like there's a growing responsibility in me that says i should always always watch out for them and make sure they grow to be the Christians God wants them to be. :)

Wanting
uhm. monehhhh.

Needing
to wake up super early like 5am tomorrow to cook food for terai and i! we've just planned out our meals and want to take on a 5 day diet meal program that isn't calorie counted (cos we dunno how) but is portion aware (at least). i took the liberty of copying last week's food from Princess Healthy Kitchen after trying it out. is it bad? haha it's not exactly the same naman. and my intention is really just to feel how much 1200 cal fills.

i tried Lunch Box Diet before but i couldn't remember the feeling because i was struggling to eat during that time (read: four mouth sores). XD

let's see how this week fares! :D

Feeling
the need to sleep haha.

How was your week? :D

MEGA GLOBAL: Championing the Filipino Family

Hey goys! MEGA Food Corp, makers of the famous MEGA Sardines, is celebrating their 40th anniversary this year! I never thought they're that old already!

Happy Anniv! <3

Mega Global Products

Mega Global Products
Mega Global has been winning the hearts of Filipino families from one generation to another for almost 40 years. Aside from providing high-quality, value-for-money products, the country’s top manufacturer of ready-to-eat viands and canned goods strives to enrich peoples' lives with its relentless efforts to bring forward several improvements and innovations in terms of packaging and food technology.

As a result, Filipino consumers have professed their loyalty to the brand, praising its commitment towards a rewarding and engaging dining experience for contemporary Filipino families who have to deal with the pressure of adapting to modern lifestyle and crammed schedules.

This persistence to strike a balance between convenience and quality has made Mega Global products a lifesaver, establishing a strong foothold among varying markets across the nation.

Mega Global’s extensive line of premium brands—Mega Sardines, Mega Creations, Valley Farm and Oh My Ulam!—have become an integral part of our daily food consumption. Each brand offers a unique way of capturing the sensibility and emotional affinity inherent to family-loving Filipinos.

Healthy and Natural
Over the years, Mega Sardines has earned a reputation of being the Top of Mind choice of most households that prefer high-quality and great-tasting canned sardines. Conchita Mae Suarez, a housewife and a mother of three kids, can attest to this claim. “I’ve always been a firm believer of Mega Sardines,” she relates. “My husband and kids are familiar with its taste. They really love it when sautéed with garlic and onions. And now that I've discovered that it can also be added to our regular dishes like Misua and Caldereta, it is my new cooking partner "

To date, Mega Sardines remains to be a dominant canned sardines brand in the domestic market, offering the freshest and healthiest options for trendy moms who are protective of their families. It can also be used as a special ingredient to a variety of home-cooked dishes, therefore emphasizing its versatile qualities as a culinary recipe. As the local parlance goes, “sari-sari ang sarap”.

One of its popular variants, Mega Sardines in Tomato Sauce has no preservatives and is ready to eat. The catching-to-canning process is completed within 12 hours from catching, minimizing histamine levels and delivering the optimal amounts of protein, calcium and Omega 3 oils—essential nutrients that reduce the risk of heart problems.

Variety
Sheila Caliboso, a licensed architect from Quezon City, sometimes finds it hard to cook meals due to her hectic schedule. “My travel time from Taguig to Fairview vice-versa is pretty challenging,” says the mom of 2 kids. “Thank goodness for Valley Farm and Mega Creations, I can now prepare hearty meals for my children without having to worry about time.”

Valley Farm, Mega Global’s latest offering in the canned food market, takes pride in their positioning as the only luncheon meat in the Philippines with real meat chunks. With its meat chunks blended in selected spices, Valley Farm gives kids the best-tasting luncheon meat that they can enjoy in all meals, most especially during breakfasts. “I’ve tried making a Luncheon Meat Maki out of Valley Farm,” Ms. Caliboso narrates. “The kids instantly fell in love with it, and so as their classmates. I had to prepare more servings because they like to share and give back. It was a heart-warming experience.”

Sheila Caliboso also shares her experience with Mega Creations, another culinary sardine line of Mega Global. “On weekends, I usually experiment with the dishes I serve to my family, and Mega Creations really helped me discover new ways on how to innovate my cooking,” she enthuses. “So far, I’ve done Fried Sardine Gyoza, Escabeche Sardine Patties, Aglio Olio and a bunch of gourmet dishes using Mega Creations Spanish Style and Mega Creations Natural Oil.”

Mega Creations, a non-tomato based sardine brand, is more than just a versatile culinary component that you can use to complement any dish. It also offers basic ready-to-eat convenience for moms who consider cooking as an expression of love and happiness.

Utmost Convenience and Value For Money
For working adults who are entangled with the fast-paced facets of modern living, Mega Global has another surprise right up your alley. Oh My Ulam!, another entry in the ready-to-eat viand market, is the only brand that comes with the convenience of easy-open can packaging. It takes pride in being the only ready-to-eat ulam that uses real meat and spices for that authentic home-  cooked experience.

Call center agent Jeremy Sinco brings one to the office whenever he’s in a hurry. “Oh My Ulam! tastes like something my lovely mom would cook for us during lunch or dinner,” Sinco tells us. “It’s easy to open. I can eat it anywhere, anytime I want”.

With a lot of Filipino BPO professionals pressured by the demands of the industry, there is simply no other brand that is as convenient, time-saving and "sulit" as Oh My Ulam, which comes in 3 variants namely Lechon Paksiw, Pork Adobo and Mechado. Sinco further reiterates, “You have to try Oh My Ulam Pork Adobo. I tried making Adobo rice using it. And guess what? My family thought it was the real deal. They absolutely enjoyed every bit of that meal.” No other brand brings real value in what consumers buy other than Oh My Ulam
