hey hey hey

long time no personal post! it irks me that there are already five consecutive PR posts on the first page... like whaaaat?! wala na ba kong ma-share?! so let me break that a bit by updating you on what's up with my life lately! after all,  this is still a very personal blog. not a very PRsonal one. BWAHA so punny.

1. my mom wouldn't allow me to buy a bike

well, she would if i promised to stay within the walls of our village... which means no. so depressing. i was planning on cycling it to the office cos there's free parking for bikes. plus i get to save half of my allowance daily. the risk, of course, is surviving commonwealth avenue. worried the heck out of her. as usual. grrr. i'm too old for this! i can't buy an expensive road bike because she'd think, 'no, that's too expensive i'm sure your taking that out'. guess what mommy... that's the plan!!!

if i could only convince her that i'm gonna be safe. that the only part of Commonwealth avenue i would ride is from Don Antonio to Technohub, and that's freaking 5 kilometers only!

thinking about getting a bike excites me so muuuuch, like having a major crush hahaha. imagine the workout i could get with that, the money i could save, the places i could go to without paying for faaare! aaaaah i can get a mani pedi nearby without having to include pamasahe on the budget! so convenient!

and also, i could frkn be a triathlete na! homaygaaaas my athletic frustrations are being acknowledged finally! chos.

2. for a freelance artist, i suck at planning

i don't seem to have a solid work process to follow. mehn, this project is so agile. there are critical dependencies and i have to rework almost all the time. but then i'm really really happy to be doing this. no bull. i love drawing. hihi it's my happy place :D

3. new food phase: Chili's rice

grabe lang! it's already my 3rd time dining at chili's this year and it's only february. on my first visit, their beef salpicao took my heart... but really it's more of the rice haha. last valentines, jeckie and i dined there... i ordered beef salpicao and was once again taken by the flavor of the herbs oozing from every bite. hahaha basta ang sarap. ang mahal din. not a good phase cos a bout of craving would set me back 1k already, juicecolored. T___T

4. have you tried CANVA?

here you go: www.canva.com

check it out guys, i'm naming it as my official graphics buddy for stuff i need in a jiffy. it's very easy to use and is extremely handy for those who want to place fancy text on their pictures. it has tons of templates for different social media formats: facbook cover, instagram post, google + banner, twitter header, presentations, invitations, business cards, etc. you don't have to worry about the dimensions!

i'm also very impressed at the amount of design options it offers, it will frkn turn you into an instant graphics/layout artist i swearrrr. WHICH IS SOBRANG NAKAKAINIS if you ask me, cos artists are fudging elitists and it's not cool how they make it easy to become one. like how you hate calling someone a photographer just because he sports a punchdrunk panda strapped DSLR. odiba.

but even with all the bitterness, i'm all for the promotion of a beautiful web and if it takes a sudden spike of so-called artists due to canva, so be it! i love looking at beautiful graphics! haha

i'm a photoshop loyalist pero baka poser lang din ako, cos traditional artists be like hating on the digital peeps. haha

----

hmmm... that's it! i should be back to illustrating.

how are you?? :D

MTRCB Launches its 2015 TV and Film Infomercial

Have you seen MTRCB's latest TV infomercial featuring celebrity couple Ryan Agoncillo and Judy Ann Santos? >XD

2015 marks the 30th year of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB). To kick off the celebration of its anniversary, MTRCB formally launched its new infomercial on 23 February 2015 at 2:00 p.m., MTRCB Building. Directed by renowned film and television director Jose Javier “Joey” Reyes, Jr., DGPI and conceptualized by Mr. Erlito “Lilit” Reyes, the infomercial features actors-spouses Ryan and Judy Ann Agoncillo in a typical morning situation at home. In such scene, their depicted child picks up a word from a TV feature and asks the elders in the house what it means.

The infomercial aims to challenge parents and responsible adults to be aware of the media content our children are exposed to, and to be mindful of the MTRCB’s classification ratings. Parents are also reminded that the primary duty in guiding their children as to the media the latter see still rests in them.

Details of the infomercial were discussed by Director Joey Reyes, Ryan and Judy Ann Agoncillo, Lilit Reyes and MTRCB Board Members Bibeth Orteza and Manet Dayrit, the latter being Co-Chairpersons of the Infomercial Committee.

The launch was culminated by the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the TV Networks and theater operators to ensure showing of the infomercial and to continuously empower the general public towards discerning viewership and thus, among other objectives, inform parents as to the media and entertainment their children may see.

The infomercial will be aired in all television networks and theaters nationwide starting 25 February 2015.

So have you chanced upon this commercial? What do you think? :D

JAMIE & JIMMY’S FOOD FIGHT CLUB returns for an all-new food adventure! Together with their special guests, Jamie Oliver and his old childhood pal, farmer and television presenter Jimmy Doherty will be exploring and celebrating more of Britain's diverse food heritage and forgotten eats, as well as whipping up more incredible local dishes from their pop-up café at Southend Pier, Essex. Among the celebrity guests this season are Golden Globe nominee Sienna Miller and Olympic gold medalist Usain Bolt. Season two of JAMIE & JIMMY’S FOOD FIGHT CLUB premieres every Thursday at 8:00 p.m., starting March 5. Encores every Sunday at 7:00 p.m. and Monday at 8:00 a.m.

success – his Aunt Lily’s Jamaican Jerk pork with yam and dumplings. Multi-award winning comedienne Jennifer Saunders cooks savoury Italian porchetta with Jamie. Actress and judge of Britain’s Got Talent Amanda Holden makes an authentic Greek moussaka inspired by her grandmother’s travels.

As usual, Jamie and Jimmy will hit the road and continue their mission to revive some of the country’s lost or nearly extinct ingredients and foods such as 160-year-old tarts, long lost spuds from historic Colchester and many others. Jamie also tops off each week with an easy-to-make ‘blow-out’ recipe that will knock the socks off of everyone, while Jimmy tears it up with tasty food-science experiments and crafty culinary ideas such as re-inventing doner kebabs in old oil drums and roasting succulent tandoor chicken in a Do-It-Yourself (DIY) dustbin oven.

Hear humorous stories and share laughs aplenty as these lifelong buddies reminisce about their youth and celebrate the best of British cooking in the latest season of JAMIE & JIMMY’S FOOD FIGHT CLUB!

Having been translated into over 30 languages, the accompanying cookbooks are bestsellers not only in the United Kingdom (UK) but across the world. His 2010 book, Jamie’s 30-Minute Meals, became Jamie’s first million-selling book in the UK as well as being the fastest-selling non-fiction book since records began.

His high street restaurant collection ‘Jamie’s Italian’ is hugely popular across the UK and the Fifteen restaurant group, which he founded in 2002, provides training for young people in three locations around the world, producing food of the highest quality.

Jamie lives in London and Essex with his wife Jools and his kids, Poppy, Daisy, Petal and Buddy.

JIMMY DOHERTY

Jimmy Doherty (born May 24, 1975) has always been passionate about nature and farming. By the time he was 16, he was the youngest ever Assistant Entomologist at the Mole Hall Wildlife Park, Walden. After gaining a degree in Zoology, Jimmy worked in the Entomology Department at London’s Natural History Museum before moving on to Coventry University where he taught Animal Ecology and Animal Philosophy.

In 2003, Jimmy decided it was time to make his dream of living the good life a reality. He left London and without any experience or prior knowledge of farming, took on a leasehold of a 100-acre farm near Ipswich in Suffolk. His rollercoaster journey to change this derelict farm into a rare breed pig farm was followed in a television series called Jimmy’s Farm.

From there, Jimmy became an established science presenter and his credits include two series of Jimmy’s Food Factory. As a result of his increasing popularity and success, he hosted several other series such as Jimmy’s Grow Your Own Christmas Dinner, Jimmy and the Giant Supermarket and Jimmy’s Forest.

Jimmy has written three books and has launched a number of food products called ‘Jimmy’s Farmers Range’ featuring a variety of sausages.

Each September, Jimmy hosts a food and music festival on his farm called ‘Harvest at Jimmy’s’ and he has also recently opened a restaurant on the farm celebrating quality local produce.

TREE TOP ADVENTURE: Experience the Extreme Press Conference

On February 21, 2015, from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Tree Top Adventure will hold its very 1st press conference and media tour in which over twenty participants from the TV, online, radio and print industries will attend.

The program will be graced by Tree Top Adventure’s CEO Ms. Ma. Camille O. Montejo. A short program will be presented with a question and answer portion will take place first before proceeding with the tour in which the participants will try all the rides. They would also be trying the only motorized team building facilities in the Philippines.

Tree Top Adventure features six activities: two slow paced and four fast paced activities. One slow paced activity is the Trekking adventure in which you’ll be toured within the area. The tour guide will be introducing local plants and trees and share interesting facts about them.  If one wants to see the forest and appreciate nature from the top of the trees, they could try the Canopy ride. The entire ride has a hanging bridge and five stations which can carry three persons at a time in which you’ll be transferring from one tree to another. For heart pounding activities, one might want to try the Superman Ride, a horizontal motorized zipline in which you’ll be soaring back and forth in less than a minute. Another activity you could try is the parachute fall in which you’ll be going upwards, slowly, and when you’re 75 feet above the ground, you’ll suddenly fall. Be Battle Ready with Battle Brew

Okay! this month was chock full of fitness opportunities for me, and being that i'm in the struggling stage when it comes to motivating myself into building the right discipline to achieve a havey na havey body, every opp gets me immensely excited, esp if it's about working out (and eating of course)!

The first waking hours of my valentines day was spent at Crossfit Insurrecto (at Il Terrazo, Tomas Morato, QC) for the opening of Battle Brew kiosk. tsk, so romantic haha. part of the program was to introduce us to crossfit (which gained more respect points from me now!), and to battle us out with other bloggers in a WOD (workout of the day) challenge. out team lost BWAHA but it was sooo fun as i've been aching for a good workout for so long. the WOD reminded me of our wasakan days at MARS. grabe ang sarap lang magpaka-fit. hahaha

So what's Battle Brew?

Battle Brew is your newest weight management and fitness buddy that will help you burn fat, boost focus, and improve your health.

How? Battle Brew's main product isn't actually coffee, but its MCT Oil. it's derived from pure coconut oil, sans the flavor, odor, and other types of triglycerides (fats!) present in it -- short chain, and long chain. ano raaaaw?

okay, let me lecture you a bit cos i learned a lot that day. plus, i actually kindof reminisced my organic chemistry class (which i failed twice lololol) with all these frkn compounds.

MCT stands for medium-chain triglycerides, a type of saturated fat that is digested easily by the body because it passes straight to the liver, therefore providing instant and sustained energy! Did i get you there or what?!

Okay, even with the ironic suggestion of eating fat to lose weight, the science behind the diet is actually fool proof. numerous studies have proven it (like this one), so it's safe to say that this isn't some fad diet that's bound to be debunked by myth busters someday. haha

So how do you use it?

Add a tablespoon to your morning or pre-workout coffee, and that's it! For more weight loss benefits, chip in another tablespoon of clarified butter. Battle Brew sells a booster pack which contains MCT oil and GHEE clarified butter from their site, so yeahhh you may stock up there. :)

and yes, if you haven't noticed... Battle Brew is pretty much your local Bulletproof Coffee vendor hehe

if you're not a coffee person, suuure there are lots of other ways to use MCT oil. use it on oil based dishes, on your salad dressing, your tea, protein shakes, smoothies, etc. hihi

Anyway, as with any weight management tool... you'll hardly see a difference if you don't couple it without proper workout.

Smart move from the people behind Battle Brew cos they teamed up with gyms and fitness centers (cos they workout too!) to introduce people who already workout to improve their fitness experience, and to encourage those who don't workout (yet) to try and go to the gym sometime to exercise (and not just to stock up on MCT oil lol).

Where do I buy?

You may get your dose of Battle Brew from the following gyms and Crossfit boxes:

CF Mad Minute - https://www.facebook.com/CrossFitMadMinute
CF Taft - https://www.facebook.com/crossfit.taft
