Because of Uber, I almost wanted to get a credit card. Two months ago, I inquired about why they haven't implemented non-credit card payment options in the Philippines yet, and they said they're looking into it... so I waited! After all, other countries have it, so i thought it's only a matter of time before it gets rolled out in our country.
@yanbirog Hi Yan! I’m sorry, but currently we only accept credit cards. We’re hoping to expand further in the future though!
That was last May, and true enough, they've explored that option! Now we can register at Uber using Visa or Mastercard debit/prepaid cards! Yahoooo!
Most Visa or Mastercard debit/prepaid cards are allowed now, but it's still a matter of trying it out!
You may check this site for more insights about allowable cards to use! :)
If you're a BPI card holder though, more treats are in for you! This promo is the reason I remembered to sign up for Uber :
Sign up to UBER using your BPI Card and your first 2 rides are FREE!
Each free ride is worth up to P500.
Promo is valid from July 17, 2015 - October 17, 2015 (promo code: BPIRIDE)
2 FREE RIDES UP TO 500 EACH?! Oh come on. Get that card and REGISTER NOW. You wouldn't want to pass up on this! So yeah, I registered using my BPI More Fun Visa prepaid card and it was successful!
If you don't have a card yet just apply for a BPI prepaid card and sign up to Uber using it! Here are your options:
Both of these prepaid cards can be used to register with Uber, and it's really easy to apply for them. Just go to the nearest BPI, fill out a form, present a valid ID, pay the processing fee, and wait for the card to be available for pickup. It's that easy!
But you know, when I registered my card at Uber, I encountered a lot of errors! It was frustrating. AND MY CARD WAS BLOCKED TOO. HAHAHA nakakainis lang. So, if you don't want the same to happen to you, heed the following tips:
Type your card number accurately. Every card detail you supply in the sign-up form must be typed with utmost care and certainty. Card verification goes through a super secure process, you wouldn't wanna mess your chances with erroneous inputs. This could lead to your card getting blocked, so be very careful!
Load your card beforehand. I don't know what the required minimum amount is, but at least put 500 pesos in it. I was charged 10 pesos for card verification.
In case you get this error message, "It looks like your bank is having trouble processing this card. Please check with your bank and try again. If this continues to happen. Please try a different card." DON'T FRET. It means your card was blocked due to invalid sign-up attempts. But it will be lifted in 24-hours so don't worry. Note that it's the bank who does this and not Uber, so that means you won't be able to use your card for 24 hours. :) I ran through this problem and called BPI customer service cos I was freaking out that I can't use my card to pay for food, right when I've already transferred money to it. Sobrang hassle, you know you can't withdraw money from it so I have to spend it elsewhere. huhu
As far as registering at Uber using a BPI prepaid card, I guess that's it! :D Excited to try Uber!
By the way, don't just play around with your UBER app, cancellation of booked rides costs 100 pesos!
Additional tip when you're using a prepaid card to book for an Uber ride:
Before requesting, make sure you load your card with an amount greater than on equal to the maximum fare estimate of your ride, otherwise your request will be invalidated. But don't worry, just load it up and you can request again. :) Apparently, Uber does a balance check for prepaid card holders before hooking you up with your ride. :)
FREEBIE (for non-BPI card holders): Use this promo code, UBERNATICS to get FREE UBER credits when you register! :) Click on the image below to sign up :)

A week ago i was able to attend a very informative skin care learning session from Skin Philosophie Medical Aesthetic and Lifestyle Solutions, it's a boutique clinic located at the 3rd floor of The Fort Strip in BGC and is owned by Dr. Kyla Talens, an Aesthetic Dermatologist who has gained education and training from clinical dermatology schools from the UK and Thailand. So yep, you're in the right hands!
Why am i suddenly talking about skin care? Oh well, i'm never really the type to splurge on facials cos i'm most probably allergic to them, but recent events have prompted me to pay more attention to my face, specifically my forehead which is now littered with dark ugly pimple scars i got from sleeping so late and not listening to my mom when she bellows that i shouldn't drink coffee in the evening.
Really, i'm not a beauty blogger, but i can assure you i'm as concerned about my face as other beauty bloggers are, i'm just, too uhm, shy to put by fez out there.
ANYWAY, the clinic offers a lot of skin and body care services that will surely hit a couple of your correction needs....

Last week (Jan 29), Eat Out Manila hosted a bloggers meet at Chihuahua Mexican Grill & Margarita Bar (BGC), where we learned first hand info about the said app, live and straight from the founder itself, Mr. Inaki Lamata.
i wasn't entirely new to the app, as i was first introduced to it during Blogapalooza 2014, but back then i never really took too much notice haha.
simply put, Eat Out Manila is an online restaurant reservation app! it's available on iOS and now Android, and also has a web app. very accessible!
as per any reservation system, it effectively eliminates waiting time and allows you to confirm or cancel your appointments instantly. you'll never have to experience the frustrating process of reserving via phone call, because for all you know, the person on the other line might misspell your name, be rude, or worse - forget to block your reservation at all!
Eat Out Manila is designed to give us the most convenient way to reserve tables AT NO COST.
What more...
- you may search hundreds of restos by name, cuisine, location, or even proximity!
- you get access to menus and chef's recommendations
- you're eligible to join EoM's partner restaurant promos!
- [COMING SOON] they're cooking a partnership with Uber that will give diners a more delightful experience!
The Meet
w/ Ross and Alex
it was my first time to attend a blogger event alone so i was afraid i wouldn't uhm behave blogger-like. lol ano raw. friendly, ganon! i was excited to make friends though but really i was afraid to be surrounded by people who are already familiar with each other and thus have no room for a new friend! chooos. anyway. i joined tables with bloggers Ross (of Wazzup Pilipinas) and Alex (of The Technoclast) and was delighted naman cos yeyy new friends!
haha part of the program was to create a short skit illustrating a scenario where the Eat Out Manila app can be used. we were grouped by tables, and well, WE WON! wow. took home a powerbank each yeheyyy! srsly i was so happy cos i've always wanted a powerbank hihi
The Food
oh, Chihuahua's margaritas are awesome! srslyyyy! i love mexican food so i enjoyed everything they served, from the tacos, burritos, and quesadillas! <3 they have a salsa bar if you're craving for more sauce... and oh, look at that wall of sauce! amazeballs! >8D
the walls of the place are plastered with photos of the many moments the restaurant has captured! it's a freakin lot it even reached the bathroom! hahaha
every thursday night they hold a salsa party (uhh, no you don't get to throw sauce on each other's clothes) at the BGC branch, where a dance instructor teaches salsa and diners dance aaaaaaaaall night long! it's a pretty unique gig for a mexican bar you know! it's really a great place to chill out! kwentuhan lang over margaritas and nachos is enough!

1) this afternoon i got an email saying i was one of the winners of this blogger contest sponsored by Sky Cable! woohoo! i just won a month's worth of subscription from Sky Cable... with ALL channels! oh yeah! >XD exciting, in fairness! it has been decades since we experienced cabled TV and quite honestly i wasn't expecting the prize (#chos). i was expecting another prize though! i wanted the Sky Cable gift pack cos well, i'm imagining it's a loot bag of corporate giveaways like notebooks and pens and a tumbler and stufffff and sorina, i love freebies! haha
In a nutshell, here's what this installment is about (as per my google searches hehe): Wolverine travels back in time to change the past in order to save the future. Yung totoo, I'm no fan of X-Men, but of time travel? YES! HAHAHA
That's one theme I saw in this movie that got me interested. I want to know if there's something unique with their use of time travel here HAHA i'm still kindof unconvinced with the usual implications of time travel, right now i'm leaning more on this theory i mentioned here! haha
anywaaay, i'm not about to argue on the technicalities of time travel, instead i'm here to answer this query:
What would you correct from your past to save the future?
but before that, let's watch the trailer first hahaha
okay. so. hmm.
it's not the first time i was faced with a similar question, and my answer has always been the same. if i were to change something from my past, it would be my course in college! and i see that this is a very very common answer! i believe there's a large chunk of our youth suffering from course mismatch, simply because they weren't evaluated and guided well enough to determine which course they would best fit into. most of the youth today are just following job opening trends without realizing they're trading so much of their lives for it!
okay, that's one thing. i'll change my course. i'll study multimedia arts or visual arts and be a kickass artist someday!
another thing is, in line with my growing (naks) concern about course mismatch, i want to take advantage of the K-12 system to incorporate a course in the basic education curriculum solely focused on helping the students decide what course they want to take in college. by that (past) time, the K-12 bill is probably still being lobbied and undergoing amendments, so it's a great way to reach out and address that concern there.
in that aforementioned course which i would call Comprehensive College Aptitude Program or CCAP (read as SIKAP ohaaa HAHAHA), teachers will devote themselves into instilling how important it is to mindfully select a course in college, and to evaluating the student's aptitude in a variety of things. more so, it will be done with the parents' cooperation as well para they know how to support their children. that's the basic idea, by the end of the course the students must have a clear and reasonable course in mind. through this, i'm envisioning more passionate college students who didn't just mindlessly select a course to take in college. lugi tayo lahat dun e promise.
having students who are naturally interested and inherently adept with their courses will contribute a lot to the formation of a better youth!
yesterday was super cool! went out to dinner with jeckie cos it was so freaking hot in the house plus we can't focus on the tv cos there was so much gamu-gamo flocking the light sources haha ! anyway, on the way to the mall we decided to watch Amazing Spider-Man 2 (arg that awkard dash!)! hehe when we bought our tickets we were given this coupon! yeyy!
you get a coupon for every purchase of 2 movie tickets at the cinema >:D
<3
while waiting for the screen time, we had dinner at yoshinoya! haha my favorite restaurant forever! i was so happy they opened a branch at Fairvew Terraces! that makes my cravings more tolerable! hihi
the usual!
i had regular chicken teriyaki + miso soup + 2 red ginger + green iced tea = 200 pesos! :D jeckie ordered a regular gyudon bowl to test how he would fare at this contest...
*drumroll please* GYUDON EATING CONTEST!!! woooh! jeckie was thrilled! so was my sister when i told her about it! hahaha
As per the flier, here are the details:
Yoshinoya 4th Gyudon Eating Contest Eat-all-you-can in 5 minutes! Every purchase of Gyudon Meal worth php199 entitles you to join the contest
Prizes: 1st place - php150,000 2nd place - php50,000 3rd place - php25,000 with a free ROUND TRIP TICKET TO JAPAN
Dates: Grand finals - June 14, 2014 Weekly qualifying round - April 21-May 30, 2014
oraaayt, as some sort of practice, i clocked him as he downs a bowl of gyudon meal!
good job! >XD
aaaaaand the result: 1 min 35 secs for that 1 bowl! so far the record holder listed in 3 bowls and 40 grams in 5 minutes! so we'll see! hahaha go jeckie! hahaha!
on to the movie.... i wasn't so surprised to find this haha
the movie was really amazing! mejo matagal but it was action-packed and intense at the same time naman! and the visul effects were perfect! i really loved peter parker's character here, sobrang angas and funny. haha crush ko na rin si harry osborn (i was to type harry oscorp sarrehna hahaha) because of his eyes and his smile, the hair was a deal breaker though. haha
anyway, my favorite quote:
Aunt May: What happened to your face? It's filthy!
Peter Parker: You know, I was cleaning the chimney.
Being a working girl, it's always hard to keep up with my favorite TV shows. In my case, isa lang naman, and that's Be Careful with my Heart! <3
Now that BCWMH has entered its next season, with Maya and Sir Chief happily married and having a baby soon, it's hard to miss out on anything! During the first season, my eyes were glued on how the lead couple's relationship will progress, but now, I've got eyes on Nikki and Nicolo na! Hahaha bagong love team yiiie! Carlo Mortel's (Nicolo) inclusion in the hit series made it more refreshing and engaging to watch because his character is just so hilarious! >XD
Unfortunately, in the rare case that I catch the show at home, ganito pa ang eksena...
static, malabo at masakit sa mata! @_@
Sarap manood no? >XS
That's definitely not how i want to watch my favorite TV show, And i'm sure kayo din!
So what's up? The problem really isn't that my eyes can't stand the horrible reception at home. Because i love the series so much, I can forgive and bear all that! What I find most depressing though is how I cannot re-watch it in case I missed an episode.
Thankfully, there's SKY CABLE! ano raw? pano tayo napunta sa Sky Cable HAHAHA
Of course, if there's a problem, there's a solution! And believe it or else, this is just about the best solution i found!
So how does that solve my problems?
Sky Cable has four amaaaazing features that lets you enjoy your television the way you want it! First off, my favorite feature:
Sky Cable enables you to take control of your TV viewing with iRecord
Exactly what I needed right? Having the first and only Personal Video Recorder (PVR) feature in the country, iRecord gives you the ability to pause, record and rewind live TV! That means I will never miss out an episode of my favorite series! Ngayon pa na Ms. Charo Santos (jokingly) said in an interview that the series will go on forever! >XD
Here are your options!
Pause - iRecord has a timeshift feature which lets you pause TV shows in case you need to step out for a while.
Record - obviously, you can record your favorite TV show! but more than that, you can do it while watching on a different channel (from the same channel group) pa! amazing!
Playback - bookmark, fast forward, and rewind that show the way you want it! Plus may slow motion and frame by frame effect pa. winner na winnner talaga!
That's just the first feature guys! take a deep breath as I reveal 3 more exciting features from Sky Cable!
Up next,
Sky Cable has the most number of standard definition (SD) and high definition channels!
Kung hindi ka ba naman ma-windang with 180 channels to choose from? Truly, Sky Cable offers you and your whole family a chance to enjoy all the programs in the world! Seriously! From movies, sports, kids, learning, music, general entertainment, news, lifestyle, religious and international channels, name it and they have it! What's more is that Sky Cable brags about having the most number of HD channels (that's 42 as of now!) among its competitors in the Philippines! And i'm sure it'll stay that way! >;D
Feature #3...
Sky Cable gives you the ability to add channels and packs that you like to your basic plan
This my 2nd favorite feature actually, being that it allows me to select just the channels I wanted! This is pretty similar to Smart's Flexibundles and Globe's Superplan (if you're familiar with those!) because it gives you the power to just select what you want on your TV! Sky Cable allows you to add channels and packs on top of your basic subscription plan to suit you and your family's preferences.
Take a look at some of these select packs:
FOX Pack (P299/month): Fox Channel HD, FOX Crime HD, FOX Family Movies HD, FOX Movies Premium HD, Nat Geo Adventure HD, Nat Geo Wild HD, National Geographic HD, Star World HD, Channel M HD
HBO Pack (both SD and HD at P350/month): HBO Family, HBO Hits, HBO Signature Movie Pack (P550/month): CinemaWorld HD, FOX Family Movies HD, FOX Movies Premium HD, HBO HD, Sundance Channel HD
Sports Pack (P550/month): ASN HD, FOX Sports News (SD), FOX Sports Plus HD, NBAPremium TV HD, Outdoor Channel HD
Kids Pack (P249/month): Baby TV, Cartoonito, Cbeebies, Discovery Kids, Disney Jr., Jim Jam, Kids Co., Nick jr.
Korean Pack 1 (199/month): Arirang, Channel M, CTS, KBS World, YTN
Korean Pack 2 (P900/month): Arirang, Channel M, CTS, KBS World, MBC, YTN
HD 40 Pack (P1999/month): ASN HD, Balls HD, Bio HD, Cartoon Network HD, Channel M HD, CI HD, Cinema World HD, Cinemax HD, Classica HD, CNN HD, Comedy Central HD, Discovery Channel HD, E! HD, Fashion TV HD, Food Network HD, Fox Action Movies HD, Fox Channel HD, Fox Crime HD, Fox Family Movies HD, Fox Movies Premium HD, Fox Sports Plus HD, H2 HD, HBO Family HD, HBO HD, HBO Hits HD, HBO Signature HD, History Channel HD, Lifetime HD, MTV Live Asia HD, NatGeo Adventure HD, Nat Geo Wild HD, National Geographic HD, NBA Premium HD, Outdoor Channel HD, RTL-CBS Entertainment HD, Star World HD, Sundance Channel HD, Syfy Channel HD, Travel Channel HD, Universal Channel HD
That, and a whole lot more!
I know, I know, by now you're probably just amazed as I am, but there's one last feature I'm gonna share to you and I'll end with this hehe...
With Sky Cable, you get access to special shows and events through Sky Cable Pay-per-view and Free view!
Oha! Sa mga sosyalin dyan, you don't have to fly all the way to Las Vegas to watch Manny Pacquiao fight live HAHAHA, else suffer the agony of watching a delayed telecast! With Sky Cable, you get free access to special shows and notable programs! Also, you get access to the widest variety of live entertainment (sporting matches, blockbuster movies, special events, concerts, etc)!
Naks naman diba? All that and more, only on Sky Cable!
So what are you waiting for? Give your family a gift of bonding and quality entertainment by subscribing to Sky Cable!
Aaaand because I can finally record Be Careful with my heart, here's how I imagine my 8pms will be, watching my favorite TV show the way I want it!
<3
Now let me walk you through this campaign poster...
and this commercial...
odiba, tv Sky Cable lang pala ang katapat ng pagiging homesick from new york!
Only from the biggest digital cable TV provider in the country,
Cheers to being able to enjoy your television #TheWayYouWantIt!
the owner of the most creative blog entry will get an ipad air and a gift come true from GLOBE Project Wonderful! also, one lucky commenter will win an ipad 2 naman! bonggaaaa! sa sobrang dami ba namang nagcomment sa entry ko (mga lima HAHAHA), i know how tight the competition was. congrats to Jinky Sagum for winning with me! >XD
i didn't really expect to win (naks haha), but i knew my entry had a fighting chance because it was a pitch for TSP! it's already a great project, and i just had to write about it and let Globe know! hehe i didn't even think my entry was 'creative' per se, but i believe it was something concrete enough for Globe to take part in. yes may mga ganong konsiderasyon talaga hehehe
nevertheless, i'm soooo blessed to have won this contest! honestly, i was only aiming for the next 15 best entries kasi mas peg ko ung globe tattoo stick, kelangan ko un eh haha. pero IPAD AIR pare, IPAD AAAAIR (at the back of my mind: shoot, magkano kaya to mabebenta?!) when i learned that they'll be announcing the winners by 3pm today, inabangan ko talaga. HAHAHA as with any contest, shempre you feel hopeful! HAHAHA
while waiting i was busying myself with our cobol exercise, and a few minutes after 3pm, i checked my facebook and boom! SPEECHLESS MOMENT! as in, what, what, i won an ipad air! my classmates started flocking over me kasi sobrang naoverwhelm ako! hahaha
thank you soooo much Lord for this blessing, not only did i win an ipad air (that i am most probably going to convert to cash!) but i also kindof got Globe to sponsor TSP! asteeeeeg! i'm so excited to collaborate! ang dami dami kasi nilang pwedeng maitulong! they could fund the publishing of our first ever story book, or they could sponsor a TSP community, or they could give us free load. chos. haha
HAHA sa sobrang overwhelmed ko my hands are shaking from happiness habang nagta-type (OA much e no). pero naman kasi, this is my biggest win so far, sa dinami dami ng kung ano anong online contest na sinalihan ko. ngayon lang ako nanalo ng super grand prize, and it felt extra fulfilling pa that i didn't win this for myself, but for the countless children who are waiting to be reached! naks, maabot na namin kayo. waits lang.
anywaaaaay, i was already too distracted to continue cobol-ing after learning the good news so i just hoped against hope that i find a way to run microfocus at home kasi waley na waley parin ako sa exercise namin!
nung nakauwi nako at nagopen ng laptop, i immediately opened vm ware and launched my virtual xp, earlier at class i learned something that could possibly allow microfocus mainframe express 2.5 to run on xp (because i keep on getting compatibility errors). sabi ko, Lord i want to stretch my blessings my today... MAKE THIS WORK PLEAAASE!!! after a few clicks:
YESSS!!! IT FINALLY OPENED!!!! I AM ONE ULTRA BLESSED CHILD TODAY, THANK YOU FATHERRR!!! at dahil nagopen na sya, clinose ko rin. masaya na ko na nalaman kong matutuloy ko sa bahay yung mga exercises. hahaha
notes: micro focus mainframe express 2.5 runs only on windows nt 4 or windows 95, to make it work with xp.... right click program, properties, select compatibility tab, check on compatibility mode and select the os where the program runs natively on! yeyy >XD
in celebration of being the #1 pc vendor worldwide, lenovo (in cooperation with microsoft) threw in a concert for those who purchased select lenovo products during their promo period last year. since i bought a flex 14 last december, i was able to get 2 vip tickets. i was planning on selling it pero matumal eh so i just went with a friend para di sayang! hahaha
we weren't able to catch the free shuttle at paseo center makati (yes, RWM offers free shuttle to members and membership is free! click here for more details), and we'd be running late if we took our chances at mcdo valero (loooong walk!) so we decided to hail a cab instead. from paseo center to resorts world manila, the fare cost around 130 pesos. but since we took the skyway, we added 20 pesos. keri na diba? haha
with my colleague tina, thanks for coming!
the newport performing arts theater opened at 8pm so while waiting at the lobby, kate torralba entertained us with her awesome singing! i know right? kate torralba the stockings designer? i was surprised to hear that she has a musical prowess din pala! ayos!
designer, singer, musician kate torralba serenaded us with classics and audience requests!
it was really refreshing to hear her sing. her voice has some kindof norah jones quality to it, and her playing is really good as well. frustrated pianist here! and look at the piano, see something? think it's a grand piano? haha natuwa ako nung napansin ko how it's just an electric organ cased in a grand-piano housing. hahaha >XD
the entire concert was accompanied by the manila philharmonic orchestra so you could only imagine how epic that was. super duper bow.
pic spam below!
nina with her opening song
thanks to the LED stream haha
since the event was exclusive, it's quite acceptable there's not a full house. but the energy went really high specially when rico blanco went off stage to rock with the audience! sayang he didn't come our way, photo op sana. hahaha
lastly, the ukelele ensemble philippines also graced the concert with a number. it was really cool! and their pack is so diverse ah! kudos! hahaha >XD
overall it was great concert! rico blanco was crazy and grabe ampogi nya hahahaha instant crush! at kahit sobrang paos ako non keribels lang sa pagtili! >XD
