In places no one will find

Earlier this week I chanced upon a trailer of The Choice on TV and wondered if it's based on the book by Nicholas Sparks (the one that had me bawling all over Jollibee). Turns out it is, so I'm super excited! I may not be able to watch it when it starts showing here though, cos seriously, who's up for some mushy and tragic love story on a February... with me?! If I was back home I could easily drag my sister to this but naaah. Nevermind. Will just download it later on.

Anywaaay, since I've already read The Choice, I decided to read other books by Nicholas Sparks. He's known for writing really good page turning, tear jerking, love stories. And I happen to be a fan of all the sad feelings he wants to relay from his books. I love romance. I love tragic. Together they make me really weak.

If it's not too obvious yet which book I read (hint: photo), it's A Walk to Remember, okay? :D

I gave it 4 stars over at Good Reads cos I love how easy it is to read, how it was written in a point of view of an older man, and how naturally the love story developed. Sure they were both too young. At 17, you'd expect boys and girls to be dead smitten in an instant but their story is different. It didn't "just" happen, and I like that haha.

I also love how the book revealed why the title is that way. When I realized that the walk to remember was actually Jamie's struggle of walking down the aisle on the day of her marriage while her body is giving up on her, I just cried.

"It was, I remembered thinking, the most difficult walk anyone ever had to make.
In every way, a walk to remember."

I'd put this a notch under The Choice cos it's still my favorite Sparks to date but come on, I've only read two so far haha, who knows.

By the way, here's the trailer to The Choice

Gabby is being played by Teresa Palmer! Yeah! The one who looks like Kristen Stewart, and who starred at Warm Bodies, and who thankfully has a lot more emotions to show and is an overall better actress than her kalokalike haha. Good grief!

Travis will be played by Benjamin Walker, I've never really heard of him, they look super good together though!

Oh, this trailer made me cry. arg.

Tranformers: Age of Extinction [4DX Experience]

click to watch official trailer
i was so thrilled when i learned i won 2 tickets to an exclusive first day screening of Transformers: Age of Extinction, in 4DX! that's right! 4DX! it's the newest when it comes to movie experience! Basically it's 3D glasses, motion chairs, and sensory effects like smoke, lightning flashes, gusts of air, etc. everything to fully immerse you into the movie! >8D

i'm think i'm gonna write more on the experience and less on the movie so as not to spoil you, but as early as now i want you to know that if you're planning to watch Transformers: Age of Extinction in 4DX, YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED WITH THE EXPERIENCE. Plus, if it's your first time watching Transformers, you won't need to catch up on the previous 3 installments.

The event was sponsored by NuffnangPh and KitKat, and aside from the movie, they also provided us dinner and a crazy loot bag!

dinner at Quiznos!

when i opened the bag i just fell in love. so much thanks! haha

The 3D Experience.

the first scenes were notably breathtaking in 3D so i was soooo freaking amazed! after all it was a real 3D movie, shot in real digital 3D cameras, and none of those pesky converted, post-produced 2D movies. >XS

The Chairs

they're big, comfortable, high, and have foot rests! and when they start to react to the movie by gearing sideways, and vibrating (for chase scenes and open fires), in fairness i felt sleeepy! IT'S LIKE A MASSAGE CHAIR! the only thing missing are those rollers driving up and down your spine hahaha!

The Sensory Effects: when the scene is set on a cold, snowy place, you'll feel the place is getting colder too! haha the smoke effect is also cool but the smell isn't so nice haha. sometimes there were jets of air too. basta everything was so fuuun! >XD

The Price:

i watched it for free so i can't really say if spending Php 450 will be worth the burn in my wallet. i personally am not an avid movie goer and these types of experiences, i consider a luxury already. BUT, putting myself in the shoes of someone who loves watching movies in cinemas, the 200% price difference from watching regular 2D movies might be steep, but for the added value of 3D, motion chairs, and sensory effects, Php 450 is actually surprisingly affordable pa. An IMAX 3D movie costs Php 350 so what's Php 450 diba? >XD

The Location:

This 4DX Cinema is located at Central Square Building, Bonfiacio High Street, Taguig City. You can buy tickets over at SureSeats.com, just look for those labeled with  "3D/4DX".

That's it! Great experience overall! >XD

X-MEN: Days of Future Past

In a nutshell, here's what this installment is about (as per my google searches hehe): Wolverine travels back in time to change the past in order to save the future. Yung totoo, I'm no fan of X-Men, but of time travel? YES! HAHAHA
That's one theme I saw in this movie that got me interested. I want to know if there's something unique with their use of time travel here HAHA i'm still kindof unconvinced with the usual implications of time travel, right now i'm leaning more on this theory i mentioned here! haha
anywaaay, i'm not about to argue on the technicalities of time travel, instead i'm here to answer this query:

What would you correct from your past to save the future?

but before that, let's watch the trailer first hahaha

okay.
so.
hmm.

it's not the first time i was faced with a similar question, and my answer has always been the same. if i were to change something from my past, it would be my course in college! and i see that this is a very very common answer! i believe there's a large chunk of our youth suffering from course mismatch, simply because they weren't evaluated and guided well enough to determine which course they would best fit into. most of the youth today are just following job opening trends without realizing they're trading so much of their lives for it!

okay, that's one thing. i'll change my course. i'll study multimedia arts or visual arts and be a kickass artist someday!

another thing is, in line with my growing (naks) concern about course mismatch, i want to take advantage of the K-12 system to incorporate a course in the basic education curriculum solely focused on helping the students decide what course they want to take in college. by that (past) time, the K-12 bill is probably still being lobbied and undergoing amendments, so it's a great way to reach out and address that concern there.

in that aforementioned course which i would call Comprehensive College Aptitude Program or CCAP (read as SIKAP ohaaa HAHAHA), teachers will devote themselves into instilling how important it is to mindfully select a course in college, and to evaluating the student's aptitude in a variety of things. more so, it will be done with the parents' cooperation as well para they know how to support their children. that's the basic idea, by the end of the course the students must have a clear and reasonable course in mind. through this, i'm envisioning more passionate college students who didn't just mindlessly select a course to take in college. lugi tayo lahat dun e promise.

having students who are naturally interested and inherently adept with their courses will contribute a lot to the formation of a better youth!

i thank you, bow.

yesterday was super cool! went out to dinner with jeckie cos it was so freaking hot in the house plus we can't focus on the tv cos there was so much gamu-gamo flocking the light sources haha ! anyway, on the way to the mall we decided to watch Amazing Spider-Man 2 (arg that awkard dash!)! hehe when we bought our tickets we were given this coupon! yeyy!

you get a coupon for every purchase of 2 movie tickets at the cinema >:D

<3
while waiting for the screen time, we had dinner at yoshinoya! haha my favorite restaurant forever! i was so happy they opened a branch at Fairvew Terraces! that makes my cravings more tolerable! hihi

the usual!
i had regular chicken teriyaki + miso soup + 2 red ginger + green iced tea = 200 pesos! :D
jeckie ordered a regular gyudon bowl to test how he would fare at this contest...

on to the movie....
i wasn't so surprised to find this haha

the movie was really amazing! mejo matagal but it was action-packed and intense at the same time naman! and the visul effects were perfect! i really loved peter parker's character here, sobrang angas and funny. haha crush ko na rin si harry osborn (i was to type harry oscorp sarrehna hahaha) because of his eyes and his smile, the hair was a deal breaker though. haha

anyway, my favorite quote:

Aunt May: What happened to your face? It's filthy!
Peter Parker: You know, I was cleaning the chimney.
Aunt May: We have no chimney.
Peter Parker: Whaaat?

WAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! NAKAKA-ASAR!

Man of Steel from Schick and Wacoal

super duper late post! anyway, i just want to thank, yet again Nuffnang Philippines for my nth free movie! they held 2 contests for man of steel, one from Wacoal and the other one from Schick! i'm blessed to have won in both screenings, resulting to me watching it twice in a week, both with jeckie!

the movie was really action packed specially towards the end where there's so much of the earth breaking haha. there were times i didn't understand the pacing and cinematography but i believe it's typical zack snyder style, so yeah. what i appreciated most with this movie aside from the action is that it reveals how clark kent struggled growing up as a human. he always knew he was different and stronger than most, so it's highly admirable that he grew up as a good person, forever patient with the humans' insensitivity/idiocy/whatever. thanks a whole bunch to the couple who fostered him. i also liked how, at the end (you don't mind spoilers now do you?), he chose to save the earth over reviving his planet. that is just so Christlike, or so they say. >XD

Wacoal Screening!

anyway, the wacoal screening was set at Newport Mall, Resorts World on its premiere night. that's july 12, independence day! i spotted a lot of celebrities like liz uy, rica peralejo, patty laurel, etc. i think i also saw sir abe olandres somewhere. lol i'm not sure!

anyway, on top of the wacoal freebies they gave all of us (900 worth of online vouchers!), i also won additional 1,000 worth of wacoal merchandise from their twitter raffle! yeheyy!

it's a cool thing that wacoal hq is (almost) just across our office at makati so right at the deadline, i used my vouchers and purchased two sports bras! yeyyy! that's actually that cheapest bra they have there haha but still perfectttt hihi >XD

Schick Screening!

this one was set the coming friday at shangri-la mall. the really cool thing about this night was the freebies.

the perfect father's day gift! a paperbag full of schick goodies! you bet, pang-ahettt! >XD sandamakmak mga 10++? i lost count hahaha may shaving cream pa haha

there you go! nights full of fun and freebies! >XD thank you Lord!

NuffnangPH & Kettle Korn's Fast & Furious 6 blocked screening!

my 4th free movie treat from nuffnang! anyway, i didn't expect a full house on this one specially that i thought it's exclusive for nuffnang winners only, but it turns out that Kettle Korn also had their own facebook promo and the winners were invited to the same block. it was sooo jam packed but nevertheless fun! >:D

cocktail food served! >:D
photobooth galore! >:D
honestly, i was thinking of boycotting the screening because we have a company outing the next day with a 530 am call time so i thought i'd need all the time to rest and prepare cos i'll be hailing 2 hours away from the office pa. haha buti na lang, pumunta ako!

alam nyo kung bakit? kasi nanalo ako ng special prize!! i was among the top 5 most creative bloggers who joined the contest so i took home a bountiful lootbag from kettle korn! naks naman, wumi-winner ang lola nyo. hahaha

w/ my co-winners and Kettle Korn executives
 and the goodie bag contains...

2 packs of kettle korn + planner & pen, tumbler (na peg na peg ko!) + 2 free passes on their next movie promo!!
thank you so much kettle korn! with all honesty naman kettle korn is among the best popocorns i tasted. in fact, i believe nung college i had a barbecue-kettle-korn-phase (if you know what phases mean to me haha). ang sarap naman kasi talaga!

oraaayt so, how was the movie?

fast-and-furious-6-gal-gadot
o crush <3
yung totoo, i haven't watched any fast and furious installment before so clueless ako sa mga ibang parts na i believe has reference to the previous movies, which is a lot. but it wasn't to the point na malo-lost ka, na-stress pa nga ako eh. masyadong ma-aksyon! and there was a time i cried pa haha and grabe lang maka-tibs si gisele ang gandaaa grabe. sorina hahaha

dahil dyan, i'm going to download all the movies and do a marathon with... what else but Kettle Korn! naman!

anyway i can't say if this was better or worse than its predecessors but i assure you it's one hell of a movie, specially the ending. hihi

salamat ulit Kettle Korn, till our next movie date!

ADVENTURE TIME: Iron Man 3 @ Newport Cinema, Resorts World

i was so excited when nuffnang announced a contest to win 2 tickets for a special screening of Iron man 3 this friday at Newport Cinema, Resorts World! nakakatawa pa cos i was in the middle of debugging some shiz at work when i received the email. stressed na ko non kasi mega delayed na ung project na yon, tas biglang ung contest pala ay for first 80 bloggers lang! lalo akong nastress!

i was connected to the internet naman pero with restrictions (in short, blogger is blocked!) so uhm, in short... just to make sure that i get into the first 80, i disconnected from work... FOR AWHILE. it wasn't so hard for me to boast about sun cell postpaid naman cos i'm a subscriber as well! anyway, to make (the first part of) the long story short, i won!

it's actually a pretty cool week for me, aside from winning free iron man 3 tickets, i also won a buffet meal at Vikings from OpenRice.ph. so the plan was to bring jeckie to iron man, and bring terai to Vikings. para well distributed ang blessings! haha

unfortunately, jeckie can't make it to iron man 3 with me that night. so in such a short notice, i called my sister to meet me at our office in makati so we could both ride Resort World's FREE SHUTTLE!!! hahaha mega research talaga ko ng ways to commute to Resorts World, eventually i found na they have free shuttles naman pala at various points in the metro! it was very late na, mga 6:30pm and we're planning to catch the 6:45 shuttle at Paseo Center. kaso when we got there, PUNO NA!!!

oh my. registration closes at 7:45 and all the taxis are full. take note that it's also a friday night haha. sa kakalakad namin pabalik kung san most probably may vacant taxi pa, umabot kami sa McDonald's Valero where there's another RW shuttle scheduled to leave at 7:15. when i got there, di pa full! so lucky! but when i asked the driver, may priority seating pala! members first policy. huhu and since we're not members, we were asked to wait until 5 mins before departure at kung may vacant pa, gorabels kami.

and by God, 5 minutes before leaving, may vacant pa nga!!! KASO ISA LANG!!! oh no. BUTI NA LANG the last group of passengers have 2 kids with them so naki-usap na lang ako (with the driver's permission shempre) if they could kandong kahit isang kid lang so we could all fit. buti na lang the member was really kind sabi nya, "okay lang basta makasakay kami lahat". so go! i told the driver na pumayag na yung isang family so finally, he let us sign dun sa log sheet.

but that's not the end of the story pa, pasakay na kami ng van when suddenly 3 more members came, all wanting to get a ride of course. and what's worse is they have VOUCHERS (apparently more powerful than a membership card) pa! also, meron pala silang isang kasama na nasa loob na, just waiting for them.

we were so nervous. i thought mapapaalis pa kami. buti na lang and super thank God kasi in the end, the one passenger waiting for them inside got out the van and joined them na lang (na mag taxi). so now, dahil may umalis na isa, kasya na kaming lahat with the kids and all. no kandong needed! yeheyy! hahaha ang galing lang ni Lord! >XD the ride was super fast and peaceful kasi ba naman nag skyway! hihi

eh first time namin ni terai sa Resorts World so mejo ala promdi kami. wow dito wow doon. i mean, honestly there's nothing really architecturally impressive about Resorts World but that's until we got inside the mall! sobrang posh lang! hahaha

at dahil dyan, iron man 3!

terai and i under a well lit mejo secluded area para di obvious ang vanity. haha
cinema 2! popcorn and drinks all set for everyone!
after the show i was like, "so, how do we get home?"

haha i checked online for the shuttle schedule bound to McDo Q.Ave, and found that it's leaving by 11pm and next ride is at 12mn. eh kakalabas lang namin ng 11. so we took the chance to register as RW members para libre na sa shuttle haha. free registration naman sila aaaand agad agad mabibigay ung ID as long as you presented a valid gov't ID (i didn't so temp ID lang sakin) so, we waited until 12mn for the shuttle! kahit na matagal, libre naman! >XD i also learned from one of the drivers there that the VOUCHER is given to those who played at the casino. kaya naman pala high priority sa shuttle hehe. so in order of priority: voucher, member, non-member (chance passenger).

that's all. thank you. bow. >XD

So Undercover: a special screening for Nuffnangers

My second free movie treat from Nuffnang! Thanks a lot to Adidas Neo too! was able to bring my boyfriend this time hehe

the movie was funny to some extent but there were a couple of points i felt the jokes were too awkward and trying hard. haha not a miley cyrus fan but the movie is nice naman. i mean, generally i'll consider this a flop. the story was bad and i didn't see a lot going on. hehe nonetheless, free movie is free! no free popcorn and drinks this time.. aww.

just a few pictures under the cut >:D

Oz the Great and Powerful: a special screening for Nuffnangers!

i always get extremely stoked when i get freebies or win something. kahit ano pa yan. libreng pamaypay sa mrt, libreng sakay, free taste ng noodles/gatas/chips sa supermarket, libreng ballpen sa jobfair, basta libre sige! haha which is why i was so happy when i became an active member of the nuffnang blogging community... andaming perks! i ain't like those bloggers who monetize their pages with all traffic and seriousness (cos at one point i'd like to keep this personal parin) but with what stuff i write, i'm happy that somehow i'm getting rewarded! haha

i joined one of their promos and won 4 tickets to a special screening of Oz the Great and Powerful and a raffle entry for a chance to win a Lumia 620 or 820 (didn't win tho).

so what about the movie? it's actually a prequel of the well known Oz with Dorothy as the main cast. it talks about how the great wizard of Oz came to be after being swept by a tornado to the magical land of Oz. what i really really liked about the film is the stunning visual effects and animation. sobrang hats off talaga. eto yung movie na hindi 3D pero mapapakapit ka sa upuan mo! >XD for some reason Oz's character (played by James Franco) kindof reminded me of Willy Wonka (Johnny Depp).

anyway, here are some photos from the event! again, many thanks to Nuffnang Philippines for making this happen and of course to Nokia and Abenson Appliance for making this happener (ok. sorina haha)!

registration area for the winners! >XD
my +3: mark, dan and terai!

free popcorn + drinks!
freebies from Nokia after the film! shirt, 2gigs USB, sortalikea ref magnet and a pillow! >XD

The Invisible War

i was browsing the net searching for good movies to download and read about this movie called The Invisible War. i was intrigued cos it was listed on the top 100 movies of 2011 on rotten tomatoes. reading on, i learned that it was a documentary film exposing the ugly truth about the condition of a considerable fraction of women serving in the US military, and the uglier truth about how the authorities respond to it.

there were no re-enactments, just a pure coverage of interviews and blah and a whole lot of appalling stats that would surely rattle anyone's mind. in the film i learned that women soldiers are more likely to die being raped by her fellow soldiers and commanders than from an open fire. and up until now, no justice was served right for the few survivors who chose to file a report against their perpetrators. why? because the military is governed by a justice system entirely different from civilians, and complaints like this go through their very own chain of command. in short, the justice they're seeking for must come from the same people who abused them. and it's the very reason why these cases all end up being swept under the rug.

idunno, i was bothered! things like these easily get to me. imagine these women who spent years training in full force and discipline, all in the hopes of being a soldier in order to serve their country with honor, only to get their dreams crushed by the very nation they serve. what a disgrace. this is crazy, if this is happening in the US, what more in other countries? grarrr

Lexcode’s Les Miserables Blocked Screening Contest Promo

my sister is a sucker for period films and this is one movie she's been waiting for for months, and what makes it really special is that it's showing right on her 24th birthday! it would be an awesome gift to win a pair of tickets from Lexcode’s Les Miserables Blocked Screening Contest Promo. that way i wouldn't have to spend for 2 movie tickets and snacks (haha)!

wonder how i learned about this promo? I SEARCHED FOR IT. seriously, i'm not exactly a movie buff so i'm not the type to spend money on movies, and when my sister watched the trailer she knew she had to block her schedule on that special day, she was so excited, and i knew this has to be my gift to her. and because i'm quite a budgetarian (haha), i figured there has to be online promos about this movie because it's so going be a hit! a voila, Lexcode's (@lexcodeinc) generosity hit the search pages through this blog entry i found at The Intersections and Beyond (@ronivalle)

So there you go, crossing my fingers on my two tickets! hehe

It's free movie day today! >:D

this day was quite eventful, i accompanied terai to the gym to try out the group exercise she regularly attends. it's called Lose It! a 1 hour fitness module composed of intense circuit workouts. that time, we were quite in a rush to catch the 12nn-1pm sched so i just skipped brunch. when the workout started, not 30 mins has passed and i almost passed out, so i just walked out the studio to rest. i had no energy left to finish the entire session. my vision got clouded and my knees got wobbly after that short exercise. it was a stupid idea to skip eating before heading to the gym. i also didn't expect that module to be that exhausting hahahaha

after gym, i was so hungry i downed an overloaded meal at KFC HAHAHA sayang exercise. then we headed straight to SM North EDSA for the FREE MOVIE DAY!!!

Movie 1: Stolen

the 1 kidnapped daughter. instant crush!
Good movie! that chick alison was an eyecandy hahaha. i just have a few concerns at the end part of the movie where nicholas cage was trying to free her daughter from the trunk of a flaming cab (the antagonist poured gas and ignited the dang thing). what he did was, he started the engine and drove the car all the way to the lake. so the fire was extinguished and they drowned and blah. eventually he found a metal stick to open the dang trunk and release her daughter.

so what's bothering me is... isn't it dangerous to start the engine when the car is already on fire? ain't that riskier for his daughter? also, he was able to start the cab, and based on what i saw he used the car key. isn't that already the same key you need to open the trunk? or not? oh well.

i'm no movie critic so i can't tell if it's that good. but i enjoyed it nonetheless, after all it's free! haha

Movie 2: Step Up Revolution (Step up 4: Miami Heat)

Super cool and entertaining movie.. as usual! Who cares about the plot, i bet most of us were in it for the amazing dance prods anyway. And the best part, Moose was there (oops, spoiler haha)! great choreography! i enjoyed every performance except the first first one with lots of wheels and where the dancers where scattered in most places. i appreciate it best when they perform as a mob on one floor. anyway, for the entertainment value it gives... this one's a must watch. :D

back to back awesome movies!

this is it, yearbook and work to juggle at the same time... somebody help meeee stay interested (and awake too)! haha i miss blogging! i really do... there are so many things i wanted to blog about but i hardly have the time to do so! so many pictures in my phone waiting to be featured BUUUT i'm too lazy to upload or i'm too unimpressed with the quality of the picture HAHAHA crappy phone camera lol. haaay

haha yesterday's meeting with the yearbook committee was crazy (as usual)! i can't wait to layout. i'd rather be stressed about the yearbook than about work. this is the stress i enjoy. the right hemisphere of my brain likes this kind of pressure. so what we did was set deadlines, delegates tasks, eat chicken and spaghetti, learned photoshop and the best part... browsed the pictures together... via projector. it was fun (you know what i mean!) seeing everyone's photos and talking about shiz and this and that. crazy day!

after the meeting jeckie came and we watched two movies together seeing that the projector and stuff is ready... we watched coach carter and 3 idiots! back to back awesome movies! i learned so much from those two movies that i'll probably tend to forget anyway, so i'll mention them here.

from those movies i learned that (cos they somehow touch the same theme...)

- educational institutions are designed to fail us in real life (and this goes to the rest of society).

that is why it's important to constantly challenge the system and in the process impose inconvenient changes, all for the mission of honing individuals whose life doesn't end at senior year.

when coach talked about this, i remembered how easy it was for a lot of professors at school to adjust their standards so that majority of the class will pass the subject. i think this in unfair no matter how much it worked for me in the past. in the end i didn't get pride in getting a streak of high grades cos i know somehow i didn't deserve it, that our grades were adjusted. it's hard to take pride in something you can't prove in real life. we may have passed the subject, but we could just be on our way to real failure.

what use is an institution who tolerates mediocrity, who doesn't care what happens to their students after graduation, who claims to want us to excel but doesn't believe we can? who serves degrees but not education to its students? if the learning is truly up to us, then we can learn any way we want.

joke. hahahahaha

this is the point were i partly lose track of what i'm saying. haha basta yon. >:)

another thing though...

i kept thinking about life as a multimedia artist, and i can't help feeling regretful that i'm nowhere near being one. that i'm confined to just my ballpens, scratch papers and a wacom intuos 4 (IN MY DREAMS LOL). i thought that it doesn't matter what you study, if you study hard, you're gonna understand it eventually and appreciate it. then i realized there has to be a limit to the things we pursue, sure we can learn everything but lest we learn something we love, only our brains get fed while our heart withers. emo thoughs brought to you by yet another huhu-i'm-not-cut-out-for-this-job drama.

sure you can do art on the sides (walk. joke haha) but thinking about doing it for a living excites me. this is probably why i get easily envious of my friends who have higher paying jobs. it's like whenever i learn of a better job opportunity, i shift my mind to it and think of ways to resign and apply there. only the salary matters. i can easily trade off this spot for a better offer... simply because this is not where i envision myself to be. i keep telling myself that it takes time, i'll get used to it. but it's just a state of MIND. i also need to get my heart in shape. i thought maybe if i was doing a job i truly loved... something that involves art (the art i love)... i'll be at peace. it wouldn't matter if i'm not the best (cos duh i know i'm not), as long as it's something i love doing, i'll be happy. i'll stay.

yeah right! yeah right! wanna bet? i'll be a programmer for life. that's how much i suck. >:|

coincidence

kagabi, lumong lumo ako kakaiyak dito sa pelikulang ito: A Little Thing Called Love (2010).
